Responsibilities This position is responsible for the processing of employee appointments and performing human resources functions within The Office of Human Resources, including offsite locations as determined by Human Resources.
Provides assistance with human resources systems, processes, policies, procedures, and services.
Maintains records and files.
Researches and resolves routine issues related to functional area.
May compile information and prepare reports.
Qualifications A Bachelor's degree, or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in human resources.
(Note:
combination of post high school education and human resources experience equal to four years) Skilled in computer operations to include MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Excellent problem solving, organizational, and customer service skills.
Ability to coordinate work processes to meet deadlines; detail oriented; communicate effectively.
Applicable knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
Preferred Experience with onboarding new employees.
Experience with a human resources information system (HRIS) Helpful Who is an ideal candidate for this position? The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, has excellent communication and customer service skills, and has previous human resource experience.
What is a typical day in this position? Work in this position involves constant communication with university department representatives and employees regarding onboarding and appointments.
This person is responsible for ensuring onboarding compliance and processing employee appointments.
While the processes are similar each biweekly payroll processing, each inquiry is unique to the individual employee situation.
What to expect in the first 60 - 90 days:
Your first few weeks will be getting up to speed on policies and procedures and gaining familiarity with our human resources information systems.
You will also begin learning about the University's organizational structure and networking with representatives in our departments.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
