The Work You Will Do:

The Benefits Services Specialist I is a member of the Reemployment Assistance Escalation team of the Division of Workforce Services.

Your
Responsibilities:

Persons employed in this position must be thoroughly familiar with the Florida Reemployment Assistance (RA) law, rules precedent decisions, federal regulations, and procedures of the RA program. This position requires the incumbent to assist in improving all work processes and to assist in meeting the missions and goals of the department. When necessary or requested, attend training and be willing to cross train to enhance knowledge, skills and abilities.

Assists with conducting research, planning, analysis, design, development, and the maintenance of RA program resources. Collaborate with pertinent department staff and external entities to ensure RA processes conform to the requirements of state and federal RA Laws regulations, policies and procedures.

Assists customers with problems of a high priority and technical nature which involves all facets of DEO s RA program. The customers are referred from the Governor s Office, DEO Director, Legislative Liaison s Office, RA Director s Office, DEO External Affairs, Communication s Office, Employ Florida Marketplace, Office of RA Appeals, RA Appeals Commission, Office of the General Counsel, Office of Civil Rights, the Inspector General s Office, and elected officials offices. The customers may be RA claimants, employers, or elected officials. Assistance may be provided by telephone, electronic mail, or U.S. mail. These priority requests require expedited service.

Answers inquiries from claimants, employers, other units within the RA program, governmental agencies and other interested parties concerning the RA program, individual claims, and application of the Florida RA law. The inquiries may be in the form of correspondence, telephone calls, or personal visits. This can involve extensive research to determine whether actions taken on a claim are valid or whether changes should be made.

Consults with RA management as needed to resolve office related issues or technical and procedural issues which are having an adverse effect on the Reemployment Assistance program and service to the department customers.

Plans, coordinates, attends, conducts and participates in workshops, conferences, and staff meetings pertaining to the RA program.

Performs other related duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of reemployment assistance law, rules, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data relating to reemployment assistance programs.
  • Ability to review reemployment assistance functions to measure effectiveness.
  • Ability to develop training materials and train others.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state and national law enforcement records.

Minimum

  • Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.

Preferred -

  • Having at least 1 years of experience working in the Reemployment Assistance (RA) program.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
