Description

The essential function of the position within the organization is to provide accounting, clerical, and customer service support.
The position is responsible for assigned accounting, clerical, and customer service tasks.
The position works under general supervision according to some procedures and decides how and when to complete tasks.

This position involves accounting work including but not limited to using the Florida Accounting Information Resource System (FLAIR) and other systems to perform various fiscal functions in the State Courts System.
This position requires a working knowledge of the rules and regulations governing disbursement of state funds and other state courts funds, understanding of processes and procedures, including types of transactions, transaction requirements, and the use, content, and arrangement of reports.
Knowledgeable of basic accounting principles and the requirements of Section 215.

Examples of Work

Processes accounts payable; audits and processes invoices for professional services provided to the courts.

Greets visitors to the Finance and Accounting unit provides routine information and directs persons to appropriate area/department or personnel.

Answers department telephones, addresses questions and provides information, directs callers to appropriate personnel and takes and distributes messages.

Performs clerical tasks, such as preparing mailings, performing data entry, typing correspondence, schedules, memorandums, and similar materials, maintaining office supply inventory or faxing.

Performs research as required to ensure accuracy of information on invoices and expense reports, and audits and processes paperwork in compliance with department guidelines and procedures.

Monitors leave liability for designated State Courts System employees; processes and maintains employee Notary Public renewals.
Processes warrant cancellations, stop payments, and photocopy and duplicate warrant requests into FLAIR System.
Assists with special projects as directed.

Knowledge Skills Abilities

Knowledge of Florida Accounting Information Resource System (FLAIR); Knowledge of Reference Guide for State Expenditures; Ability to understand State Courts Purchasing Directives and general office policies; Ability to use various software applications including but not limited to Word and Excel; Ability to research and resolve problems; Ability to work independently; Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data; Ability to organize work, meet deadlines and communicate effectively (verbal and written).

Bachelor s degree in accounting, finance, computer operations or a closely related field.
