This is a professional position responsible for the application of independent accounting skills to maintain several complex accounting functions.
This position coordinates the reconciliations of several local(agency) funds and monitors all local fund activities.
Assists in governmental fund reconciliations and performs other accounting related functions.
This position requires the knowledge of FLAIR (State of Florida Accounting system) and the Department of Children and Families accounting policies and procedures.

Your
Responsibilities:

  • Reconciliations and audits related to governmental and local funds and provides lead assistance to regional staff and outside stakeholders as necessary
  • Assist with reporting, research, payroll review, and other special projects
  • Assist in financial statements assistance as needed

Analysis Skills:

Ability to analyze and interpret financial data from all aspects of the accounting cycle and connect the accounting data within programs and operations related to the budget/financial structure.
This requires analyzing data and understanding the accounting processes and procedures.
Ability to work independently, attention to detail and resourcefulness in determining the true nature of discrepancies are a must.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong technical skills in Microsoft with main focus on Microsoft Excel used to create detailed and complex Spreadsheets (Ex:
V-Lookup, Pivot Tables, Sorting, Filtering, etc.
).
Ability to manage and coordinate large volumes of data, research, and provide guidance to other areas on corrections as needed.
Ability to work within fixed timeframes established on a monthly basis.
Experience in FLAIR (State of Florida Accounting system) is strongly desired.
Knowledge of Finance and/or Budget is preferred.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills are desired.
Ability to communicate data and work with group settings as needed.

Required
Qualifications:

  • Must be currently employed with the State of Florida
  • Must possess any combination of the following:
  • A bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting and two (2) years of professional accounting experience with the State of Florida; OR
  • Four (4) years of professional accounting experience with the State of Florida; OR
  • A master s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or possession of a Certified Public Accountant (C.
    P.
    A) certification and one (1) year of professional accounting experience
    • Special Note:
      professional or non-professional accounting experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required bachelor s degree; or any combination of this experience and up to 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college education including two courses in accounting can substitute on a year-for year basis for the required bachelor s degree.
