Responsibilities:
Conducts routine inspections for residential facilities, schools, foster homes, mobile home/RV park, tanning facilities, public swimming pools/bathing places, drinking water system, and Biomedical waste in an assigned area of Leon County in compliance with the appropriate Florida Statues, Administrative Codes, Department policy and Leon County Ordinances.

Investigates programmatic and assigned sanitary nuisance complaints in all areas of environmental health ensuring proper documentation as a legal record and initiates the necessary enforcement actions to gain compliance within a prescribed time frame.
Responsible for maintaining a filing system for all inspections, reports, records, permits, invoices, complaints and legal proceedings for all non-OSTDS environmental health program areas.
Responsible for input of non-OSTDS data into the environmental health EHD system.
Responsible for ensuring that environmental health service data is uploaded to the DOH Program office by the date required.
Participates in the establishment of new or modified filing systems for more efficient records retrieval.
Coordinates with the supervisors to devise new work methods or improve existing procedures.
Regularly assists the director or supervisor in providing educational guidance in all areas of environmental health listed above to owner/operators, workers, and the general public in order to minimize the potential for abuse, neglect and other health and safety factors in Leon County establishments.
Performs related work as required or as needed by the supervisor and/or director.
The incumbent is responsible for the integrity and confidentiality of data sets under his/her control This position serves as the backup for the Rabies Surveillance Program.
Conducts initial and follow-up investigations for all reported animal bite cases.
Investigates possible exposure cases, prepares specimens for laboratory examination, and performs follow-up of quarantine.
Completes all required paperwork.
This position functions as the backup Human Resources liaison for the environmental health and epidemiology divisions of the DOH-Leon.
Responsible for utilizing the People First HR system for all personnel actions initiated by these divisions.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
This position, working under the direction of the Environmental Supervisor II, encompasses professional environmental health work, county wide.
The incumbent regulates and educates the public through on-the spot guidance relating to assigned Environmental Health Program Areas within defined limits of authority.
Ability to perform site inspections, collect or evaluate, analyze, and interpret scientific data.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.
Qualifications:
Minimum - Associates (A.
A.
) degree from an accredited institution necessary to be successful in the position.
Applicable work experience may be substituted.
Preferred - Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution that, while not required, are good to have for those serving in the position and may lead to a higher level of success in the position.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
