As an in-house Senior Staff Attorney for The Hartford, you will join a collaborative, team-oriented contemporary work environment that includes a strong focus on work-life balance and personal growth.
Our Senior Staff Attorney is a fully remote position that may litigate cases throughout the State of Florida, with a primary focus in Central and South Florida.
The selected individual will be required to work closely with our claim centers and insureds to deliver the best possible result in pending litigation.
Our ideal candidate will be part of a unique team responsible for providing top quality representation of The Hartford and its insureds for litigated matters involving Auto and General Liability (product & premises) files.
These cases will be handled from inception through trial resolution.
The Senior Staff Attorney will handle the following key
Responsibilities:
Analyze complex legal factual issues while conducting extensive and well-reasoned legal researchIndependently develop and aggressively present defense strategies on behalf of clients for auto and general liability cases from inception through trialPrepare pleadings, written discovery, motions, and briefs in support of defense strategiesProvide effective and timely information, legal advice, and other servicesCommunicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel with professional diplomacy and discretionParticipate in claims file reviewsIndependently conduct trials, depositions, arbitration, and mediationsAttend continuing legal education seminars in order to maintain a high level of professional expertise
Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school and a license to practice in the State of Florida is requiredMinimum of 7 years of legal practice with demonstrable verdict experience within insurance defenseFirst chair jury trial experience is preferred, but not requiredLegal research and motion practice expertisePositive-minded and collaborative team-player attitudeExcellent verbal and written communication skillsSolid MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook); Lexis Nexis experience is a plus!Self-directed aptitude with excellent organizational and prioritization skillsWHAT ELSE CAN YOU TELL ME?This is a remote work position, and the selected candidate will work from his/her home in the Central or South Florida geography.
This position requires 10-15% of travel within the state of Florida for court and file-related appearances.
For full-time, occasional, part-time or remote positions:

CompensationThe listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market.
Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role.
The base pay is just one component of The Hartford s total compensation package for employees.
Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
The annualized base pay range for this role is:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
