What Will I Be Doing:

This position performs reconciliation responsibilities, to include:

  • Processing and tracking of all dealer worthless checks that are returned to the Tax Collector, DMV office and the Department of Highway Safety.
  • Answering the phone, collecting and applying payments to outstanding customer accounts
  • Complete monthly and daily reports
  • File and mail checks and correspondence to the Tax Collector and request additional documentation from the Tax Collector if needed
  • Post daily mail-in payments received from the Tax Collector
  • Pull records from the files for credit card chargebacks cleared
  • Back up Accountant I when needed
  • Scan daily refund requests refund application processed
  • Close out the daily Orbi Payment report and Customer Receipt System daily

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic, office procedures and practices.
  • Ability to research and collect data.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Motor Vehicle and Driver License laws, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Ability to adhere to and meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Skill in Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Skill in data entry.

Key Skills:

  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and/or Outlook
  • Experience in data entry and/or maintaining databases
  • Experience providing customer service
  • Experience in reconciling

General Information

The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.

Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI.

The process for selecting applicant(s) for this position could take up to six months. Following the six-month period, a new application must be submitted to an open advertisement in order to be considered for that vacancy.

HSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
