What Will I Be Doing?

As Construction Projects Consultant II, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and administration/management of statewide capital improvement projects funded through the Fixed Capital Outlay (FCO) appropriation category.
Additionally, you will represent the department on internal and external safety committees in the capacity of Alternate Safety Coordinator and promote intradepartmental safety awareness by way of member outreach.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Do you have experience using Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel and Outlook?
  • Do you have experience in construction planning, design and management or the equivalent degree in a related field?
  • Do you have experience in project/contract management, preferably in the construction industry?
  • Do you have experience in workplace safety program management/coordination?

Position Related Requirements

  • Have and maintain a valid driver s license in good standing.
    A driver's license history review will be conducted on all candidates in consideration for the position.
  • The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background and CJIS security clearance, to include fingerprinting as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.

    As an applicant for positions requiring CJIS security clearance, you are required to disclose criminal records that have been sealed or expunged.

Ideal Candidate Attributes

  • Knowledge of best practices related to design, construction and occupational/workplace safety
  • Knowledge of State minimum building codes including Florida Building Code and Florida Fire Prevention Code
  • Knowledge of principles, techniques, materials, and equipment used in building construction and design

  • Knowledge of Title II of the ADA and 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design
  • Knowledge of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 35
  • Knowledge of administrative principles and techniques
  • Knowledge of engineering design, construction, production, and/or operations

General Information

The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.

Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI.

HSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month.
