POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Develop Geographic Information Systems (GIS) products using Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) GIS platforms in support of Department of Transportation offices, other state agencies, and external customers.

Collect, compile, analyze, and document sources of spatial data from a variety of sources including censuses, field observation, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps, to be used in GIS Office projects.
Reference other sources of mapping and/or geographic data to obtain the most current available information.
When necessary, conduct research to locate and obtain existing datasets.

Meet with customers, both internal and external, to define project needs, requirements, and deliverables, or to develop solutions, applications, or tools based on customer s needs.
Present solutions to customers, answer questions and provide training on developed solutions.

Perform other technical assignments needed to support the GIS Office.
These assignments include, but are not limited to, data creation and distribution, documentation, metadata, web publishing, map scanning and archiving, field inventory, and maintenance of software/hardware.

Develop and manage quality control procedures for geospatial products, solutions and services created by the GIS Office.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of cartography, geography, and mapping terminology.
Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) concepts.
Skill in the use of GIS, Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD), and related software for mapping purposes.
Skill in installing and maintaining ArcGIS software.
Skill in GIS customization using Python or other programming languages.
Ability to perform spatial analysis and interpret results.
Ability to create geographic maps using GIS and CADD software.
Ability to perform photo-interpretation of aerial imagery to identify relevant features.
Ability to work with internal and external customers in a courteous manner.

OTHER JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS:
Employee will be required to be responsive to emergency situations within a very short timeframe and serve in the Transportation Emergency Management Team (TEMT).

MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Two years of experience with GIS software.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
